Thanksgiving Table Settings

Three table setting ideas that will have you feeling grateful.

Choose fall scented candles for a festive Thanksgiving tablescape.

Fall is a time for food, family and fun times. Whether it’s a traditional sit-down Thanksgiving dinner, Friendsgiving with your besties, or a night of card games and cocktails, there are so many different occasions to be celebrated! When it comes time for you to host friends and family in your home, impress your guests with these simple centerpieces!

Amber Autumn Glow

Get that autumn ambiance by incorporating candles and lights into your table arrangements. For a classic look, start by spreading out faux (or real!) fall leaves in the center of your table. Add white candles in gold candle holders or vases across the length of your rectangular table, or vary the heights of the candles for a dynamic look in the center of your round table! If you want more of a glow, small jar candles or tealight candles are an inexpensive way to achieve your goal!

Faux Fall Flowers

Fresh flowers are beautiful in centerpieces, but they can be pricey and they often don’t last very long. Get the same look that lasts much longer by substituting faux flowers and foliage. Sunflowers, mums, dahlias, maple leaves and grasses are all great choices for your arrangements, and they come in beautiful fall colors too! Use your florals throughout the autumn season in these six ways to keep your fall decor delightful.

  1. Hollow out a pumpkin (or avoid the mess and opt for a faux pumpkin with a removable lid) and fill it to the brim with fall-colored flowers for an easy and beautiful Thanksgiving table decoration.
  2. Fill a cornucopia with flowers, fall leaves and gourds for a traditional Thanksgiving centerpiece.
  3. Find a faux-flower wreath to set in the middle of your table. Add candles to the center or a vase with more flowers to amp up the fall feel!
  4. Before arranging your favorite fall flowers and foliage in a clear vase, fill the vase with pinecones to hide the stems and add an unexpected autumn surprise. For a twist on a traditional floral centerpiece, add some LED lights to your arrangement!
  5. For an inexpensive Thanksgiving table decoration, paint mason jars in your favorite fall colors and fill with your favorite faux-liage. Tie a burlap ribbon around the jars for a rustic fall look that will look great on a farmhouse-style dining table.
  6. Choose a colored vase in a fall color to fill with your favorite blooms. For a taller statement centerpiece, choose an urn shaped vase. For a more understated piece, consider a round short vase that guests will be able to see over.

Plethora of Pumpkins

Pumpkins are the unofficial symbol of fall, which make them great for decorating for fall get-togethers. Pumpkins come in sizes from great to small, and are available in many materials from glass to cloth, to the real thing; so you are sure to find one that fits your centerpiece needs. For a bigger display meant for the center of the table, start by selecting a medium sized pumpkin, one that your guests will be able to see over when seated for the center of the arrangement. Set the pumpkin on a circular tray or platter and fill the area around it with a mixture of leaves, pinecones, candles, gourds and smaller pumpkins. For a centerpiece that will stretch the length of the table, begin by creating a base of fall leaves. Set different sized glass pumpkins and candles on top of them every six inches or so, and fill in the remaining spaces with pinecones, flowers or candles. For an everyday arrangement, simply fill a large bowl with small pumpkins, pinecones and greenery for a beautiful and easy fall centerpiece.
