Coon Rapids, MN (October 2024) –The 2024 HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer walk and run event took place on Saturday, September 7th at Rosland Park in Edina, Minnesota. The annual event, hosted by the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA), celebrated MOCA’s 25th anniversary. HOM Furniture served as the title sponsor for the 12th consecutive year. This year’s event set a fundraising record, raising close to $487,000 through combined efforts.
HOM Teal Strides is the largest ovarian cancer fundraiser in the Midwest and supporters come from all over the region to attend. This year, close to 1,700 participants, including ovarian cancer survivors, families, friends and volunteers, attended the event, participating in a morning filled with inspiration and fundraising.
“For the past dozen years, we’ve enjoyed being a part of MOCA’s annual walk-run for ovarian cancer. It’s been a joy to watch the event grow and be a part of the crucial fundraising that’s needed to support MOCA’s efforts against the devastating effects of ovarian cancer,” said Rod Johansen, HOM Furniture President and CEO. “This year, it was especially significant to be part of the celebration for MOCA’s 25 year anniversary, and hear the inspiring stories from 25-year ovarian cancer survivors. The event is a testament to these survivors and the progress that MOCA has made in the fight against ovarian cancer. It’s also a reminder that more fundraising, awareness and support is needed - and we’re happy to show our continued support along with family, friends and this community.”
MOCA’s HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer included events for all levels and ages.
Participants joined in on a 2K Walk, 5K Run and a Kids Fun Run.
An inspirational program featured ovarian cancer survivors, including stories of hope from 25-year ovarian cancer survivors and stories of progress from MOCA’s partners in health care.
