The 2022 Minneapolis Home + Garden show, scheduled for March 2 – 6 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, will once again include an IDEA Home, featuring some of the year’s hottest interior design trends. HOM Furniture is contributing to the interior design selections of this year’s IDEA home, selecting the Minnesota Farmhouse theme, as well as the colors, furniture and home accessories that will be featured in the home. Additionally, the flooring was selected and installed by HOM Floors.

In past years, the IDEA Home was a functional home that consumers could purchase and rebuild in their choice of location. Different this year, the IDEA Home will be set up to showcase design trends—both in the interior and exterior of the home. Namely, the Minnesota Farmhouse theme is a fresh take on the popular modern farmhouse phenomenon, with a regional twist focusing on the Midwestern aesthetic.

The Minnesota Farmhouse design concept will include a range of colors, textures and patterns. The color palette is grounded in bright white, with the addition of fresh greens. With different shades of green being named as many paint manufacturers’ prized colors of the year in 2022, and a continued focus on merging outdoor and indoor living spaces, green plays a starring role in this year’s design.

Starting from the ground up, the IDEA Home will feature one of today’s hottest flooring trends, both in remodeling and new constructions. White oak toned luxury vinyl plank offers realistic visuals of hardwood flooring, with the performance and maintenance advantages of luxury vinyl flooring. The white oak pattern is bright and neutral, working well with the Minnesota Farmhouse theme.

Home furnishing trends will also be on full display in the 2022 IDEA Home. Furniture will primarily feature neutral color tones, with a focus on texture and a modern design flare. For instance, a genuine leather sofa and matching chair feature simple, chic silhouettes, and 360-degree wood bases that are perfect for free floating in an open concept space. For accents, look for black pieces with mixed media appeal. Accent tables, lamps and other accessories will feature a mix of metals, glass and wood, with a popular neutral color palette; while area rugs focus on pattern and texture. Greenery, such as high-quality, faux potted plants add a fresh feel throughout the space.

Similarly, the bedroom will feature a neutral palette and natural materials, such as a solid wood plank panel bedroom set, including a bed, chest and nightstands. Casual and calming, the style is an ideal fit for those that prioritize comfort without the fuss.

While the layout of the IDEA Home is straightforward with a focus on the trends, you’ll see the items that are important to many of today’s home buyers and remodelers. A home office space is a must for today’s hybrid and home workers, featuring a functional desk, comfortable chair and plenty of light. Another trend that’s reflected in the IDEA Home is an emphasis on outdoor living spaces, with more time than ever spent on patios and the like. A curved outdoor sectional is soft and inviting, while design touches such as an indoor/outdoor area rug make your outdoor space truly feel like an extension of the indoors.
