Your Guide to Glam

How to get the luxe look in your home by pairing glam pieces with an understated style

Sure farmhouse, Scandinavian, and other natural-focused styles are trendy right now, but there will always be a place in our hearts for bold glam looks. The style makes any room feel rich, sleek, and luxurious, and really makes you feel like royalty. Still craving a little glamour in your spaces? There are some easy ways to update your decor style, or introduce a bit of luxe into your looks.

Mirrored furniture can both add glam and give a more open sense to a room.

Mirror Magic

Nothing quite says glam like mirrored pieces. This could include actual mirrors, which if placed smartly, can open up the room, or mirrored furniture, which can add an unmatched sparkle. Smaller mirrored pieces like end tables make a great first step toward glam rooms, as they can make the pieces around them seem sleeker without overpowering the space. There are also plenty of mirrored furniture pieces that utilize aspects or materials from others styles, like rough farmhouse wood or intricate, oriental designs.

Pedals to the Metal

Like mirrored pieces, the use of metal can really help you establish the sleek design of your space. Silvers and golds are especially common in glamorous rooms, but we have seen a recent uptick in the use of warmer metals like copper or rose gold. Don’t be afraid to mix several colors of metal in one space, as they can really accent each other in a classic way. However, make sure you balance out your metals and mirrors with softer pieces, so that your room doesn’t feel too sterile. Like other styles, layering can be key to establishing the proper tone.

Fab Fabrics

Make your glam as luxe as possible with soft, luxurious fabrics. As for color, rich reds or other jewel tones can help you really create a deep sense of luxury and royalty. Fabrics like silks or the ever-trendy velvet can help you utilize those colors in a way that looks and feels amazing. Faux fur is especially useful for bringing in a cozy vibe to a space without losing any sense of glamour (Love faux fur? Read our blog about adding it to your home décor).

Tuft it Out

Tufted furniture, especially a timeless Chesterfield sofa, is an often understated aspect of glam. The style helps to establish that classical aspect that really makes the glamorous look feel authentic and well designed. It pulls some of the best aspects of furniture from history and makes them feel modern and fresh. Look for pieces with shimmery or contrasting details, like silver nailhead trim, to really bring on the glam. Don’t have enough room or don’t want to splurge on a new tufted sofa? Go for a tufted armchair or even an ottoman to capture the aesthetic without having to buy an entirely new set.

Crystal pieces can come in a variety of forms.

Luxe Lighting

Can you imagine a glam room without a chandelier? You’ll definitely want to incorporate one of the most stunning aspect of glam rooms, no matter what type of glam you’re focusing on. If you can, go for a beautiful chandelier piece. It doesn’t have to be huge or overwhelming, and there are plenty of different crystal styles and shapes to fit both your space and your specific style of glamour. If you’d like to opt for something smaller, a lovely table lamp or floor lamp will still create the same crystallized effect on your lighting without having to replace your built-ins.

Flower Power

An oldie but a goodie: flowers. Beautiful flowers, both natural and in pattern form, can really set the tone of a glam room. The key to incorporating florals into a glam room is simplicity. Focus on beautiful and non-intrusive patterns along with simple arrangements. White flowers, like roses and calla lilies, make great additions whether in a vase or on a pillow. Don’t overwhelm your space with florals, as it could start to get a little grandma-chic, but don’t be afraid to use nature to really tie your clean, glam additions together.
