Fall Bucket List

Enjoy the season to the fullest with these auspicious autumn activities.

The days are getting shorter and summer is drawing to a close, fall is finally here! With the weather getting colder, you may be tempted to just stay inside cuddled up on the couch on those brisk fall days, but this fall to-do list will keep you and your family active this autumn. Worried that you won’t have enough quality time with the family once the kids head back to school? Designate weekends or a few nights a week to spend together checking things off of your family’s fall bucket list.

An outdoor fire table is great for fall entertaining.
You can update your home interior for fall by switching out your everyday wall art for colorful fall scenes.
  1. Go apple picking - Take your family to your local orchard for some hand-picked apples and an afternoon they won’t soon forget! Bring your camera along to capture memories in-the-making.
  2. Bake some fall treats - Take your just-picked apples and turn them into a pie, muffins or even cider! Enjoy all of your hard work and effort with family and friends at your dining room table or on the patio!
  3. Host a game night - Invite over your friends and family for a board game night that’s sure to be far from boring. Play family friendly games that involve teamwork, such as charades or Pictionary, or break out the classics like Scrabble and Sorry. Bonus: Serve treats made from your freshly-picked apples!
  4. Play in the leaves - Turn an afternoon of yard work into a fun family activity. Challenge your family to see who can make the biggest leaf pile in five minutes, then combine them all and jump on in!
  5. Attend a football game - Fall means that it’s football season! Grab your kids and head to the field. Bring homemade signs and pom-poms to support the home team, and don’t forget to pick up some snacks to share at the concession stand!
  6. Go for a hike - Fall is the perfect time to go hiking! It’s not too hot and not too cold, and the views are bound to be great when all of the leaves on the trees are changing colors. Bring your furry friend along too! Don’t forget to pack water to stay hydrated.
  7. Pack a picnic - Make some sandwiches, cut up some fruits and vegetables, bottle up some cider and pack it all in a basket! Lay out a blanket in a local park or take your picnic with you on a hike, either way you’ll have a tasty meal surrounded by your loved ones and the beautiful colors of fall.
  8. Walk through a corn maze - Spend an afternoon getting lost in a maze and use your teamwork skills to figure out the way out. Mazes are a great way to get outside and get active while exercising your brain too!
  9. Make a fall masterpiece - Collect several different sizes of flat, fallen leaves, cover them in paint, and use them as stamps! To create a homemade fall decoration, use paint colors that coordinate with your home decor and frame your finished product.
  10. Camp out in the backyard - Set up a tent in the backyard for a mini get-away, without ever leaving your yard! Bring lots of blankets and pillows so you stay warm and cozy on those chilly fall nights! Complete the evening by stargazing and catching lightning bugs.
  11. Throw a backyard party - Invite neighbors, school pals, family and old friends to join you for a backyard party! Have games for guests to play such as cornhole, ladder gold, bobbing for apples and Twister. (Pro tip: spray paint colored circles onto the grass to make the board!) Fire up the grill for some BBQ, or impress your guests with some culinary delights whipped up in your Big Green Egg, and make some s’mores for dessert! Finish the evening off by telling stories of your fun fall adventures around the fire, using a fire table for ease of use and clean up.
