The 2021 HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer event took place on September 18, with more than 1,500 people in attendance to support the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA). The event raised more than $250,000 to support ovarian cancer research and programs. This year, MOCA received a special statewide proclamation in honor of the event from Governor Walz.
The 2021 community event, hosted at Rosland Park in Edina, Minnesota, marked its return to a full format, after a dialed back event in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. The activities included a 5K run, kids’ fun run, and 2K walk, as well as a program and awards designed to honor woman and families that have been affected by ovarian cancer, bring awareness to the disease, and educate and inspire the community.
“We were happy to have the opportunity to mark nine years of serving as the title sponsor of HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer and, more importantly, our continued support of MOCA’s critical work in the fight against this devastating disease,” said Rod Johansen, President and CEO. “After a scaled back Teal Drive event in 2020, this year’s event was a celebration of survivors and community, and HOM Furniture was proud to participate.”
HOM Teal Strides was one of MOCA’s fundraisers that took place in September, which is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer, making research and awareness crucial in improving early detection and prevention of future tragedies. MOCA is dedicated to providing support to those affected by ovarian cancer, as well as funding ovarian cancer research and spreading awareness.
The 2022 HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer event is now scheduled for Saturday, Sept 10, 2022, again taking place at Rosland Park in Edina. Learn more about MOCA and all its upcoming events here: https://mnovarian.org/ .
