Coon Rapids, Minn. (September 21, 2017) – HOM Furniture hosted the 28th annual HOM Open golf tournament at Majestic Oaks Golf Club, in Ham Lake, Minnesota, on August 17, 2017. With the help of many generous sponsors, participants and volunteers, the 2017 tournament raised more than $300,000 for Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge (MNATC), a faith based recovery program for people of all ages struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
More than 308 golfers participated in this year’s event, including employees of HOM Furniture and vendors from around the country, as well as friends and family. The day started with registration and a brunch, with a shot gun start at noon. Guest speakers from MNATC shared information about the charity’s work in the community, and prizes, dinner and a live auction rounded off the day of golf and fundraising.
“We look forward to this annual event every year, and this summer’s tournament did not disappoint. It’s a great opportunity to gather with our HOM community, including vendors and guests, and enjoy a day of golf and camaraderie in support of a good cause,” said Wayne Johansen, Founder and Chairman of HOM Furniture, who co-chairs the annual event with his wife, Char. “Char and I admire the work MNATC does in assisting teens and adults in gaining freedom from chemical addictions by addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs, and we are proud to be long supporters of their work through HOM Furniture’s annual golf tournament.”
For almost 30 years, Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge has been restoring hope to people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. In addition to their effective and affordable shorter-term residential and outpatient programs and their distinctive long-term faith-based recovery program, MNATC has extensive prevention and transitional/aftercare services.
