Supplies
A single trip to your local craft store should get you all the supplies you need for this fall wreath. Here’s your shopping list:
- 16-inch wire wreath
- 3 colors of mesh ribbon (stick with similar tones if you’re a novice); 150-inches total for each ribbon
- 3 colors of wire ribbon; 165-inches total for each ribbon
- 31 pipe cleaners (get a color to match your mesh ribbon)
- Scissors
- Tape measure
Steps
Follow these simple steps to create your own harvest wreath:
- Wrap each section of the wreath across two of the bands with your pipe cleaners, creating two separate wreath lines. This will form a more workable surface that helps hold the ribbon in place.
- Cut 15 10-inch strips of each of your mesh ribbons, as well as 15 11-inch strips of each of your wire ribbons. Fold your wire ribbon in half, first vertically and then horizontally. Make an angled cut from the inside out on the end of each ribbon to create a tail on both sides of each piece of your ribbon.
- Assemble the first ribbon piece by rolling up your three pieces of mesh ribbon. Place one over the other, holding them in the middle so they create an “X” shape, and place the third on top, so each ribbon crosses over each other. Crisscross the three wire ribbons across the top of the mesh ribbons, continuing to hold all pieces together in the middle with your finger. Wrap your pipe cleaner across the top, twisting the bottom to hold the ribbons together, finalizing your first piece.
- Repeat step number three 14 more times, to create a total of 15 pieces.
- Wrap the ends of the pipe cleaner around your wreath to securely attach each piece of ribbon to your wreath. Space the pieces out so that the entire wreath is covered by the ribbon pieces. Once you’ve attached each piece, you can use your scissors to clip any loose ends off the ribbon, and you’re done!
