Coon Rapids (November 1, 2023) – HOM Furniture is proud to announce it has been awarded a High Score on the 2023 Wood Furniture Scorecard! Awarded annually since 2018, the Wood Furniture Scorecard is an initiative of National Wildlife Federation (NWF) and Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC). Its goal is to encourage furniture retailers, large and small, to implement robust policies that drive responsible wood sourcing practices through their complex supply chains.

HOM Furniture joined the Sustainable Furnishings Council in 2020, and 2023 marks the third consecutive year of receiving a High Score. The commitment to the responsible use of wood is achieved in several ways. First, HOM works directly with furniture suppliers to reduce overall wood waste while crafting more sustainable products. This includes an increased use of reclaimed wood, recycled wood, and wood alternatives, such as bamboo, for furniture and accent pieces.

Furthermore, HOM Furniture works with suppliers to increase the amount of responsible wood, such wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), that is procured over time, and eliminate the use of unacceptable wood sources. These unacceptable sources may include illegally harvested or traded timber, timber harvested in violation of traditional or civil rights, and timber harvested from areas in which high conservation values are threatened by poor forest management.
