HOM Furniture’s Hermantown, Minnesota showroom partnered with WDIO-TV (ABC) in Duluth, Minnesota, for the 6th annual Trees of Hope fundraiser. Through this event, more than $21,000 was raised to support four designated charities. Additionally, the broadcasts and fundraising work helped spread important awareness for the organizations’ research and efforts.
The fundraiser ran for four weeks in late November into December. Each week, HOM Furniture employees decorated the set of WDIO-TV in specific colors and themes to represent the highlighted charity. Throughout the week, WDIO-TV ran stories on the weekly charity recipient, and provided a phone bank every Monday during all newscasts to raise money for the organization. For each $20 donation, participants received a coupon for a free ornament from HOM Furniture.
The 2021 Trees of Hope event raised more than $21,000 during the four-week run, which is the highest amount of money of any of the previous years. The highlighted organizations and contributions were as follows:
“The Trees of Hope fundraiser is something we look forward to at the end of every year, working with our friends at WDIO-TV in giving back a little to our Duluth community,” said Rod Johansen, President and CEO. “I’d like to extend a big ‘thank-you’ to everyone who worked together to make this event a success, including HOM employees, WDIO’s news anchors and employees, volunteers that worked the phone banks, and—most of all—everyone who called in and donated to support the important work these organizations do year-round.”
